Walt Disney will be coming to life as an animatronic in the upcoming show Walt Disney – A Magical Life, which will debut at the Main Street Opera House in 2025. This was announced during the just-concluded D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro promised a breathtaking experience as everyone involved in its creation is proud of the work invested. He also added that Walt’s great-nephew, Roy P. Disney, recently visited the Imagineering campus to check their progress.
What to expect
Roy was present at the fan event and received a shout-out from D’Amaro, who thanked him for bringing the dream to life. Excited fans can expect nothing short of fun as Walt will appear on a set similar to his studio office. A map of Disneyland and a picture of Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln just above Walt’s desk will be present in the space too.

There are reports and speculations that Walt Disney — A Magical Life may either replace Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, or they both might be put on a rotating schedule. The latter show has been presented in Disneyland since 1965, after its debut at the 1964 New York World’s Fair as the prime feature of the State of Illinois Pavilion.
Disney fans react
Disney posted the news to their official Instagram page with the caption, “BREAKING…The first-ever Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic is coming to @Disneyland!” It soon went viral with nearly a hundred thousand likes as Disney fans could not hold back their excitement. “It’s about time!” one fan exclaimed in the comments.
Another nostalgic fan was glad to have watched Mr. Lincoln before the potential replacement was announced. “OMG so excited for this! What a perfect replacement,” they gushed. “The fact this is exactly what Walt would’ve loved in an attraction,” another noted.
