Daryl Hall and John Oates formed Hall and Oates, a musical band that gained immense popularity during the late ’70s and ’80s. After more than a half-century of making music together, Hall recently filed a lawsuit against Oates seeking to bar the sale of their music together, accusing him of blindsiding and betraying him while also stating that their relationship and his trust in the 75-year-old has deteriorated.
However, amidst the nasty legal battle, Oates, in a new interview, reflected on his amazing career with the band, especially the ugly turn of events between him and his longtime partner.
John Oates says he is grateful for the time he spent in the band
During a discussion with Entertainment Tonight, the 75-year-old expressed appreciation for the collaborative journey spanning five decades alongside Hall. “I have an amazing, amazing amount of respect, and I’m really, really thankful for the success that Daryl and I have had,” Oates explained to the news outlet. “We’ve done something over a 50-year period of time that not many people ever can say they’ve done in their lives or careers.”

“It’s been a great thing for me to do, I’m really proud of it, and I’m really happy about it,” he added. “And I know that those songs are going to live forever.”
Hall and Oates is over
During the interview, Oates explicitly communicated his departure from the band, emphasizing that he has redirected his attention toward different pursuits and endeavors. “I’ve moved on. I moved on in a big way,” he admitted. “I’ve got other things I’m doing.”
In a prior interview with People Magazine, the musician emphasized that he is not worried about anything as his primary focus is to enjoy the remaining years of his career. “I am just trying to lead my best life,” Oates confessed to the publication. “I want to do good things. I want to give back; it’s important to me. I want to enjoy whatever’s left in my creative future.”
