Jennifer Aniston is deeply grieving the loss of Matthew Perry after he was found dead in his jacuzzi in October. Page Six stated that the A-list actress, who also lost her father in late 2022, is “struggling” at Perry’s passing.
The late Perry once disclosed that of his five Friends co-stars, Jennifer was there for him the most while he battled addiction for almost three decades. A source said that Jennifer and Courteney Cox were “reeling the most” at his funeral last Friday.
A double hit for Jennifer
Last year, Jennifer lost her actor father, John Aniston, who played Victor Kiriakis in the long-running soap opera, Days of Our Lives. She called her father “one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew.” Losing her friend nearly two weeks shy of her father’s death anniversary has been a lot for her to handle. “She still hasn’t fully regained her footing from that, and now this has just completely knocked her off her feet,” the source said. “She is trying to regroup and recover, but it’s been a completely devastating blow.”

The lead cast members of the classic sitcom Friends, in which Perry played Chandler Bing throughout its ten seasons, laid him to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles, near the Warner Bros. studio where they filmed the show from 1994 to 2004. “Out of the remaining five…Jen is probably the one who is struggling most acutely,” the source noted.
Perry had a crush on her
In a 2004 interview, Jennifer cried at the prospect of losing her friendship with Perry. The late actor told Diane Sawyer in 2022 that Jennifer was there for him during his lowest. “[Jennifer] reached out the most. You know, I’m really grateful to her for that,” he said. He also recalled Jennifer being the first to confront him on set when his addiction started to get obvious.
Perry admitted in his autobiography, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, that he had a big crush on Jennifer from the first day they met. “I’d ask myself, how long can I look at her? Is three seconds too long?” he wrote. However, they formed a solid friendship instead that lasted until his death. “We were able to sail right past the past and focus on the fact that we had both gotten the best job Hollywood had to offer,” Perry added.
