Robert De Niro celebrated his 80th birthday in August, and a few weeks later the new dad was spotted looking fit and ageless as he strolled in New York City with a camera crew. The actor welcomed his seventh child, Gia, with girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, in April, some months after he had to struggle with the loss of his grandson, Leonardo. It seems Robert has been able to pull himself together amidst the happy-sad news that trails his new milestone.
He wore a baggy gray t-shirt, shorts, and trainers in the photo. He also left his silver hair in a stylish, unkempt manner and held a cap to complete the sporty look. The actor has left fans wondering how he stays fit despite being an octogenarian.

In past times, Robert has been open about how he manages to appear youthful in old age. During the lockdown period in 2020, the actor revealed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert that he lifted a lot of weights, did much cardio, and got on the treadmill regularly to keep strong.

The two-time Oscar winner is known for his high-energy movies; therefore, it is unsurprising that he takes physical fitness seriously. One of his iconic films, Cape Fear, required him to undergo a rigorous fitness lifestyle, including a strict diet of protein, carbs, fat, intensive cardio, weight-lifting, and boxing for speed and agility.

In attendance at Robert’s birthday bash in August were the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Sir Paul McCartney, Christopher Walken, and a few others, as well as his bereaved daughter, Drena. Sadly, Drena had to pull herself together at the dinner as she was still grieving the loss of her 19-year-old son, Leandro, who died in July.
Just a week before Robert’s 80th, Leandro’s death was ruled as an “accidental drug overdose” and “toxic effects of fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-amino clonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine.” The teenager, who dreamed of being an actor like his grandfather, was found unresponsive at an apartment in lower Manhattan that unfortunate day.
