Robert De Niro celebrated his 80th birthday with his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, and their new baby some days back at Locanda Verde, an Italian eatery in Tribeca, New York. The couple welcomed their daughter Gia in April 2023, making her Robert’s seventh child.
While pushing baby Gia in the stroller, Tiffany was spotted arriving at the birthday party venue in a hoodie, sweatpants, and a V-neck shirt. The photo of Tiffany and the baby and the news of Robert turning 80 sparked division among fans as some thought Robert having a baby in old age was “a selfish thing to do.”

Robert arrived in a tan polo shirt and charcoal blazer to his star-studded birthday party. Many important figures and celebrities were present, including ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Martin Scorsese. Other guests like Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, Tommy Mottola, Lorne Michaels, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Julian Schnabel also graced the event. Alec Baldwin was at the venue with his wife, Hiliaria, as well as Paul McCartney and his beau, Nancy Shevell, to celebrate the actor.

Robert also received tributes on social media from fans and well-wishers, including his first child and daughter, Drena, who reposted Debi Mazar’s birthday wish to him on Instagram. “Happy 80, you know who!” Drena wrote alongside Debi’s post.
Mixed reactions about Robert’s seventh child
To some fans, Robert welcoming a newborn with his 45-year-old girlfriend at his age was not the best thing to do. “What is it with old men and young women, but hey money rules ppl,” a user named Jackie commented on Facebook. Someone else added that it was a selfish decision on Robert’s part as he would not spend much time with Gia.

“This is wrong on so many levels,” another user simply put. However, some fans were happy for Robert and his new baby. Someone called him a “cool dad,” and another was impressed that he is “still enjoying life.” Another fan compared him to the father of a famous motocross racer, Malcolm Smith, who had him at 81. “I guess better late than never,” the person added.
The actor has revealed on several occasions that he loves being a father; in an interview with Today, he said Gia has been sleeping “great.” He sweetly held up a branded onesie handed to him during the chat and said, “Gia, this is for you, honey,” while facing the camera.
