Daris Rucker, a well-known country music star and also known for his work with Hootie & the Blowfish, has raised more than $2 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Rucker has done so through his event called “Darius and Friends” which is a fundraising concert used to raise money. This takes place annually.

This year’s concert raised $425,000, which is what pushed his organization over the $2 million mark. The event has gone onto become a benefit concert, golf tournament, a silent auction, and the unofficial kick-off to the Country Music Awards festival in Nashville.

“Ten years ago I visited St. Jude and knew I wanted to do everything I could to help those kids and the amazing doctors that work tirelessly to find cures,” he says. “Because of all of YOU, we’ve raised over 2 million dollars for them. Thank you.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the top leading children’s hospital, specifically for children who are fighting disease like cancer. They conduct important research, treat various types of pediatric diseases, and provide multiple ways so that you can get involved with helping them save our children.

The reason why St. Jude is a top-performing children’s hospital is because families who receive treatment there never receive even a dime. Because their funding comes solely from donations, there is no need to send medical bills to parents of a child who are also struggling.

One woman shares her experience with saving a life at St. Jude. “I give to St. Jude whenever I possibly can! I ran into a man one day who showed me a scar from his heart surgery he had there as a child. They saved his life! He cried while I donated and shared a hug with me. He called me a ‘she-ro.'”

Absolutely incredible!

Daris Rucker isn’t the only celebrity who has donated money to a great cause. See how much Dolly Parton donated to volunteer firefighters in March this year!
