Every year, the gala celebrates a certain fashion exhibit and guests are supposed to match their fashion to the exhibit theme. Many celebrities try to wear the craziest outfits to get noticed. The 2019 theme was ‘Camp.’ ‘Camp’ or ‘campy’ generally means outlandish, silly, and extravagant.
Cher went with the theme and wore several different outfits during her performance. For her performance of ABBA’s “Waterloo”, she wore a blonde wig, jeans with a peace sign and skull patches, and a pink top with a black jacket. It was certainly reminiscent of the ABBA days.
