Terrifying Image Of Great White Shark Mirrors The 1975 ‘Jaws’

If we knew a shark similar to that of Jaws in the classic 1975 film existed, we’d never swim again. Well, it looks like our biggest nightmare has come to life as a real image of a great white shark has exactly mirrored the image of Jaws in the 1975 film. It’s truly terrifying how alike they look!

Euan Rannachan, 32, was just a few feet away when he snapped the photo of a great white shark looming over the cage. Regardless of how the movie turned out, though, there were no fatalities or people eaten by sharks this time.

“The shark in my image is a female and her name is Squirrel. We’d been with her for a while. We have these people on the boat called shark wranglers and they throw these two-foot chunks of tuna to get the shark close to the surface,” Euan said. A shark named Squirrel, what do ya know?

The original poster for the 1975 film, designed by Roger Kastel, shows a swimmer directly in the ginormous shark’s path. This, thankfully, was not the case for Squirrel. See the similarities between the photos!

Euan explained that sometimes the sharks do get annoyed and will dive down under the boat and bait so they can zoom right up and grab the tuna that’s being used to lure them in.

“That’s exactly what Squirrel was doing here, she was fed up probably messing around on the surface and dived back down under the boat. It was really deep there but the water clarity was amazing,” he said.

Jaws is one of the most successful Stephen Spielberg movies to date. The plot tells the story of a man named Martin Brody, who sets out with marine biologist Matt and shark hunter Quint, to find the massive man-eating shark that has been terrorizing Amity Island. Jaws won three Academy Awards for Best Film Editing, Best Original Dramatic Score, and Best Sound.

It was also nominated for Best Picture that same year. It still continues to scare the living daylights out of us all today!
