McDonald’s has been making money from their Happy Meals for decades and now Burger King seemingly wants to compete with that. They are now rolling out ‘unhappy meals’ called Real Meals so that you can order a meal for every emotion. All because Burger King claims, “no one is happy all the time.”
There are five different Real Meals available to choose from. According to TODAY, they are: Pissed Meal (for when you’re mad), Blue Meal (for when you’re sad), Salty Meal (for when you’re a little bitter), YAAAS Meal (for when you literally can’t contain your excitement) and DGAF Meal (for when you really couldn’t care less about anything).

Unfortunately, these are only available at select Burger King locations. The places they are available are Seattle, Miami, Los Angeles, New York City and Austin, Texas. The real reason for these Real Meals isn’t to poke fun at McDonald’s, but to partner with the non-profit organization Mental Health America.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Burger King hopes to encourage people to feel the way they feel. Burger King’s press release states, “With Real Meals, the Burger King brand celebrates being yourself and feeling however you want to feel.”
So, what is included in a Real Meal?
If you order a Real Meal, you can choose a combo of a type of Whopper with fries. Unfortunately, there is no toy like Happy Meals offer. Bummer! We wonder what kind of toys Burger King would include in each meal… perhaps a stress ball for the Pissed Meal?
Fans of Burger King on social media are loving this idea and hope that they roll out these Real Meals permanently to other locations in the United States.
What do you think of this idea? Do you like that Burger King releases items tied to different causes or wish they would just stick to serving delicious food?

So we expect a lot of comments slamming both Burger King and the Impossible Burger (slam away!), but this really is a pretty big deal. One of the largest fast food chains will carry an entirely plant-based burger (if you take off the mayo – the bun is vegan as are all their buns). Millions of people are expected buy these instead of meat, saving lots of animals lives. More importantly, this has the potential to show many people that they don’t need to eat animals in order to have a satisfying meal. We believe that this is a significant step toward ending animal agriculture once and for all. We link to a good story about this from The New York Times at veganstreet.com/dailymeme-4-2-19.html
This news comes after it was reported that Burger King will be releasing a meatless Whopper called the Impossible Whopper. Both the Real Meals and the meatless burger seem targeted at a younger crowd. What do you think about Burger King’s changes? Learn more about what Burger King used to be like.
