It has been confirmed (ever so sadly) that everyone’s favorite Behavioral Analysis Unit will be coming to a close. Criminal Minds will be ending after season 15 and nobody knows how to feel about it. The official announcement came directly from the Criminal Minds official Twitter account, calling season 15 their “epic final season”.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the 15th season will be 10 episodes long and will be picking up where season 14 left off. The show will have aired 325 episodes by the time the 15th season is over, making it one of the longest-running TV dramas.

Amy Reisenbach, CBS’ EVP current programs, spoke about how much she and the network both value Criminal Minds and all of the hard work and effort put into the show.
“It is the quintessential CBS hit. We are so proud to have aired it,” she says, “It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television. It’s been successful not only on air but online, in syndication, internationally for ABC (Studios).”
Mandy Patinkin was an actor that left Criminal Minds after the second season, which he claims were due to the nature of the show. He played the role of Jason Gideon. When asked why he left the show, it wasn’t necessarily on happy terms.
“The biggest public mistake I ever made was that I chose to do Criminal Minds in the first place. I thought it was something very different. I never thought they were going to kill and rape all these women every night, every day, week after week, year after year. It was very destructive to my soul and my personality,” he says, evidently not a big fan of what the show portrays.
Thomas Gibson was another well-known Criminal Minds star that was actually kicked off the show following a “physical altercation” with someone on set. He played the role of Aaron Hotchner. from 2005 to 2016. Despite the unfortunate circumstances of the situation, Gibson released a statement on his departure.
“I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.”
It is pretty much unarguable that Shemar Moore, who played the role of Derek Morgan from 2005 to 2016, carried the cast of Criminal Minds. He did not move on from the hit TV drama without a heartfelt goodbye and confirmed that he was going to miss playing the character.
“I have grown through Derek Morgan and through these years at Criminal Minds,” he told CBS a few years back, “I’ll miss it. I’ll miss Derek. I already do.”
