Josh Groban, John Fogerty, And More Announced For Elvis Presley’s “’68 Comeback Special” Lineup

It was recently announced that country singer and The Voice coach Blake Shelton would be hosting the ’68 Comeback Special, which would be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic special that aired in 1968. Elvis All-Star Tribute will be airing on NBC on February 27th, 2019.

The event will span two hours long and will feature artists from all generations coming together to perform a slew of popular Elvis Presley tunes. Many of the songs included in the event will be songs that Elvis actually sang during his Comeback Special in 1968.

In addition to the performances throughout the event, the special will also feature interviews with Priscilla Presley and the director of the ’68 Comeback Special, Steve Binder. RCA/Legacy Recordings will also be releasing The Best of the ’68 Comeback Special on February 15th, which is a collection of Elvis’s performances from the original show.

Binder spoke to Rolling Stone last year about the impact of the original concert. “These screenings mean a lot to me,” he says, “Aside from all the Elvis fans worldwide – and there are millions of them – I think it’s good that the younger generation who have only been sort of brainwashed about how important Elvis was to the world really get a chance to see him.”
