Mondelez Global, the manufacturer of Ritz Cracker products voluntarily recalled some of their products due to the risk of salmonella. These products contain whey powder that may contain salmonella.
The recall affects the following products as reported by CBS News. The following list includes the products, their expiration dates, and UPC codes:
The products in question have expiration dates of January 14, 2019, to April 13, 2019.
If you have any of these products, throw them away immediately.
The company is doing this as a precaution and says there have been no reports of illness yet. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Salmonella causes about 1.2 million illnesses every year, and contaminated food is usually the cause of illness.
If you are infected you may experience vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps. Salmonella is serious and has been known to cause fatal infections in young children, the elderly or people with weakened immune systems if not treated immediately.
