The Princess Theatre In Tennessee Is Nostalgic For Moviegoers Because Of The Old Popcorn Machine

Many moviegoers forget the days before there were 3D movies, recliners, and alcohol being served while you watch the latest flick.

However, some movie theatres aim to keep that nostalgic feeling of going to the movies. One particular theatre called The Princess Theatre in Lexington, Tennessee is doing a great job.

One of the best things about this theatre is their 50-year-old popcorn machine that still pops corn to this day for moviegoers. Owner David Campbell-Watt says that they call the very large, vintage popcorn machine It. The machine first came to the theatre in 1968 during a very different time in American history.

The same showing that the popcorn machine appeared was the first showing with an integrated crowd. Many of the residents remember this huge milestone for Lexington and look back on it fondly.

Several residents also remember when Elvis’ first movie made its debut at the theatre and lines were around the block.

The other owner Lisa Campbell-Watts says they took over the business two years ago and aim to keep that nostalgic feeling around for many years to come. She hopes that Lexington residents continue to love this landmark and feel that it is a place where everyone can come and feel loved and accepted, and perhaps get a big bowl of classic popcorn.

The inside of the theatre is still the same, with classic seats and an elevated screen. This definitely makes us remember going to the movies as kids and what the theatres used to be like!

What do you think about this heart-warming story about an old movie theatre and a vintage popcorn machine? Have you ever been to the Princess Theatre in Lexington, Tennessee? Or do you have a similar movie theatre and story in your town?
