Fans Call Out ‘The Price Is Right’ For Snubbing Bob Barker’s Death Anniversary

It has been a year since The Price is Right host Bob Barker died at 99 in his Los Angeles home, and while fans remembered to pay tribute to the longtime host, the network itself showed no signs of remembering him. This made his supporters furious as they called out CBS for the supposed oversight.

Bob died of natural causes after a life of TV hosting for five decades and advocating for animals. Although he had no children, Bob was married to Dorothy Jo Gideon until her death in 1981, after which he began dating Nancy Burnet, who was his primary caregiver until his passing.

Fans took it upon themselves to preserve Bob’s memory and legacy by flooding social media with photos and posts about him. “Remembering Bob Barker one year later. Some of my favorite Bob Barker memories were contestants playing Plinko, Cliffhangers, and Three Strikes,” someone wrote.

Another praised his “charm and style,” noting that it was one in a million and will be greatly missed. “Can’t believe it’s been a year since we lost the GOAT. R.I.P. Bob!” some other nostalgic supporter wrote. “We lost you one year ago today,” a third person recalled.

Bob’s lasting legacy

Bob left an undeniable mark in the game show industry and is even credited for giving Wheel of Fortune’s Vanna White her big break. He also promoted the culture of spaying and neutering pets in the U.S., which is a means of birth control for animals to prevent strays and pet overpopulation.

Not survived by any offspring, Bob left his $70 million fortune to some animal charities to continue his advocacy. CBS has yet to acknowledge offended fans or issue an apology; however, Bob’s impact remains undeniable in the hearts of many viewers of The Price is Right around the country.
