Everything seemed well after long-time show host Pat Sajak left Wheel of Fortune weeks ago, with Ryan Seacrest ready to handle things from here on out, and Vanna White eager to work with the 49-year-old TV personality. According to new reports, there has been friction between the new show anchors, as they are having a hard time getting along.
Having worked alongside Pat for over four decades, it is not surprising that Vanna would require more time and patience to adjust to recent changes. However, sources say that she is considering leaving the show altogether. She can hardly connect with her new partner and thinks it is high time she retires too.
Due to her inability to adapt to Ryan’s presence, Vanna might step down from her longtime role before her contract expires, citing unfamiliarity with her co-host, which may negatively affect views and ratings. With Pat, collaborating was much easier as they came from a similar generation and found engaging the audience as a team like second nature.
Pat himself admitted that there was no better partner for him than Vanna, who often guided him on set. They both share a friendship beyond work, which has even translated into Vanna’s admiration for Pat’s daughter, Maggie Sajak. Vanna’s contract ensures her stay until 2026, but with recent developments, she might not even make it as the letter-turner for the new season this fall.
In response to recent revelations, Ryan has denied any discord between himself and Vanna, noting that they have become comfortable with each other behind the scenes and during promotional events. Meanwhile, Vanna has also hinted at the possibility of Maggie replacing her, as she is very familiar with the show and is loved by fans.
Interestingly, most of the audience expected 29-year-old Maggie to take over from her father and expressed their displeasure at Ryan’s appointment. She has worked as the program’s social media correspondent, highlighting what goes on during the show and behind the scenes on the internet. Hopefully, she is gearing up to be in the spotlight in a few months should Vanna retire.
