Christopher Lloyd Surprises Cast Of Broadway’s ‘Back To The Future’ Rehearsal

Christopher Lloyd played the lovable Doc Brown in the 1985 blockbuster movie, Back To The Future. Recently, the 84-year-old actor surprised the cast of the upcoming Broadway musical version of the film during their rehearsals.

The performance of the ‘80s hit film will begin on June 30 at Broadway and will open in August at Broadway’s Winter Garden theatre. However, Lloyd had previously seen the musical by West End Productions last July at the Adelphi Theater.

Lloyd met some members of the musical cast

Lloyd had conversations with some members of the cast and crew, like Casey Likes, who plays Marty McFly, Roger Bart, who plays Lloyd’s character, Doc Brown in the musical, Broadway director John Rando, and co-creator and musical book writer Bob Gale.

Lloyd shared some advice and tips with the people working on the musical to prepare them ahead of their time with the DeLorean time travel machine. He shook hands with the whole cast and took a group photo with them before leaving.

The same crew members from the original are behind the musical

The creative team behind the movie, which includes director Robert, co-writer and co-creator Gale, Alvan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, who works on the music, are also behind the upcoming Broadway musical.

“If Bob Zemeckis and I time traveled back to 1980 and told our younger selves that the script they were struggling to write would become a Broadway musical 43 years later, they’d kick us out of their office and call us crazy,” Gale said in a statement. “Well, sometimes, crazy ideas give birth to great entertainment, and now Bob and I are eager to share our musical vision with New York audiences.”
