Former supermodel, Brooke Shields, found herself in a fix when her younger daughter, Grier, expressed a keen interest in pursuing a modeling career. While many parents may be overjoyed to see their child following in their footsteps, Shields was not excited about it. During a recent interview on Live With Kelly and Mark, the 58-year-old candidly discussed her reservations regarding Grier’s choice.

The actress revealed that she initially felt apprehensive when Grier expressed her desire to be a model due to her experience in the industry. Shields also detailed that the public attention that comes with it might be overwhelming. “I fought it for so long,” she told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. “The rules have changed since I was [a model].”

She claimed that her daughter’s niche as a runway model was also a source of worry for her. “That’s brutal, and backstage is just brutal,” the 58-year-old said. “I never did runway. I don’t think I would’ve been able to handle it.”

“I finally had to give in and say if you’re gonna do this, A) I’m not gonna be your manager. You’re going to be with an agency,” Shields said. “You are gonna have a great work ethic. It’s not going to be comfortable and you’re gonna listen to me. Those are my rules. And you’re going to college.”
