Arnold Schwarzenegger is a man of many talents and has achieved success in several fields. From bodybuilding to acting and his tenure as Governor of California, he has always been occupied with multiple endeavors.
Despite his busy schedule, the actor has been a devoted family man, and he ensures that he spends time with his loved ones. However, creating time to bond with his daughters in their childhood also led him to rediscover his passion for an activity he used to enjoy as a child.
During the production of the 1994 movie True Lies, Schwarzenegger and his family had to live for a month in Washington so the actor can spend quality time with his family since the filming took place shortly after the birth of his son Patrick.
His plan went accordingly because the Director, James Cameron, loved filming at night, and this provided Schwarzenegger with more than enough time with his family during the day.
The actor had always had a huge passion for painting, but as soon as his professional career kicked off, he did not have the time to pursue it seriously. However, during his stay in Washington for the production of True Lies, his assistant Ronda arranged for him to take it up again in the company of his daughters.
In his autobiography, Total Recall, Schwarzenegger credited Ronda for being the inspiration behind his reconnection with painting. “My assistant, Ronda, the artist, had gotten me back to painting,” he wrote. “Something I’d loved as a kid.”
During his stay in Washington, Schwarzenegger spent three hours on a Saturday morning engaging in a father-daughter painting session. The beautiful scenery and the location’s ambiance, which features French doors, a balcony, a piano, and a seaside view, motivated and reignited his passion for painting.
Schwarzenegger revealed that painting with his daughters provided him with a much-needed break from the stress of working on the production of the action-comedy, True Lies. While reflecting on the time he spent painting with his two daughters, Schwarzenegger recalled, “The girls and I got into this delightful rhythm of drawing and playing together.”
