Arnold Schwarzenegger Filling ‘Giant’ Potholes Himself Garners Some Controversy

Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday took to Twitter to post a video where he and his team were seen repairing a “gigantic pothole” in his locality. The actor explained that the pothole had been causing problems for cars and bicycles for several weeks.

“I went out with my team and fixed it,” the 75-year-old wrote. “I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go.” However, Los Angeles City officials have stated that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s community service in his neighborhood was thoughtful but ultimately misplaced.

Los Angeles City authority says construction work was ongoing on the trench

A city representative revealed in a statement to NBC Los Angeles that the location in question was not considered to be a pothole. “It’s a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCalGas,” the official told the news outlet, “who expects the work to be completed by the end of May.”

The official explained that work had commenced on January 26 to enhance the pipeline system on Mandeville Canyon Road, which led to the application of temporary paving. Following its standard protocol, a southern California gas company, SoCalGas, had plans to permanently pave the region within roughly 30 days of the work’s completion but due to “extraordinary wet and inclement weather” in the city, the process was delayed.

Arnold Schwarzenegger defends himself, saying it was a patriotic act

A representative for Schwarzenegger has defended the actor stating that the city has not been accurate in the statement issued about the situation involving the Terminator star, which suggests that the actor impeded their gas line work.

The representative further stated that the former California governor filled two potholes, but only one of them was a service trench. Meanwhile, photographs taken by Schwarzenegger showed a warning sign mounted in the middle of the road, blocking off a substantial part of the street.

Also, another image revealed an additional pothole, which purportedly was not a service trench. However, Schwarzenegger’s representative claimed that the city disregarded the other pothole in their remarks.
