Parker Stevenson, who achieved fame for his role in the TV series Hardy Boys, which ran from the late â70s to the early â80s, recently shared a profound tribute to his late ex-wife, Kirstie Alley. The ex-lovers co-starred in the miniseries North & South: Book 2, Love and War in 1986 before their relationship ended in 1997.
Alley and Stevenson tied the knot in 1983 and share two children, William True and Lillie Price, who was adopted in 1992 and 1995, respectively. Following the death of their mother, True and Lillie revealed Alley died after battling cancer and that it had progressed before she discovered it.
âWe are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered,â True and Lillie posted on their motherâs Twitter account. âShe was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.â
Also, Stevenson shared a throwback picture of him and Alley when they were couples with an emotional caption. âDear Kirstie,â he wrote, âI am so grateful for our years together, and for the two incredibly beautiful children and now grandchildren that we have. You will be missed. With love, Parker.â
Sympathizing with him on the death of his ex-wife, netizens took to Stevensonâs comment section to give their condolences. A die-hard fan wrote, âMy heart is shatteredđđ Iâve been watching Cheers episodes and lovers her on it. Sheâs always been my fave actress. My condition to You, Lisa, True and LilyđRest in Peace beautiful.â
âOh Parker, I thought of you first when I heard the sad news. I posted this for her. She will never be forgotten. So many memories,â a sad user mourns. While another person commented, âIâm so very very sorry to hear this. Kirstie was a very talented actress and Iâve followed her over the years. Thinking of you and your familyđđ.â
Kirstie had previously married Bob Alley, from whom she took up the stage name âAlleyâ in 1970 until the union broke down in 1977. The Cheers star and Stevenson met each other at a bar. Although she couldnât recognize him as the actor from The Hardy Boys, she fell in love immediately. âI saw him and said to my roommate,â she recalled in an interview with PEOPLE. âFor him, I would die.â
The couple was married for 14 years, from 1983 till their separation in 1997. According to a report by Closer magazine, Alley blamed the failure of their marriage on their incompatibility. âThere was no infidelity in my marriage, on either side,â she revealed. âThere was nothing other than maybe different goals in life.â
