The original Wonder Woman TV series aired through the 1970s but Lynda Carter has kept its legacy alive and well to this day. These days, Gal Gadot wields the Lasso of Truth but fans of the Amazing Amazon got to see Carter in Wonder Woman 1984 as Asteria, a warrior who’s been at this hero business for a long time. Well, though that film’s been out for two years, Carter had a fun, new surprise to share that revealed her in Wonder Woman’s war helmet, featured in a behind-the-scenes photo.
Carter has remained a common sight for fans through her continual acting work, her music career, and her online presence where she shares updates on her personal life and answers questions about Diana Prince. Recently, she shared a new photo that shows her in some iconic Themysciran gear.
Carter can be found on a few social media platforms, blending her personal and professional lives with enthusiasm. This happened recently when a follower on her Tumblr account prompted, “Please tell me there’s a picture of you wearing the Asteria helmet/armor on the set of WW84?” Carter confirmed this with a photo of herself and her daughter Jessica “Jessie” Carter Altman.
The photo, shared on November 14, shows the mother and daughter duo arm-in-arm smiling at the camera. Both have their long dark hair flowing free but Carter has hers falling out from under a sleek, angular, golden helmet. This is from her time as Asteria, a figure of Amazonian legend in the latest DC movies whose armor is a point of inspiration for Gadot’s Diana.
In Wonder Woman 1984, Carter shows up in a credits cameo donned not in that gilded armor and helmet but in a flowing blue robe. However, she’s not done with the role of Asteria just yet, as she’s set to appear in the third DC Wonder Woman film, tentatively titled Wonder Woman 3 with an unknown release date. For the latest Diana actress, it “means the world” to work with her bringing to life this icon of empowerment, strength, and grace.
Gadot revealed, “First of all, Lynda has mentored me from the very first moment that I got cast as Wonder Woman. She was always there, talking to me, giving me tips and everything. She’s a true champion of what [director] Patty [Jenkins] and I have been doing, and it was so great that we managed to find the right opportunity to bring her to the last movie and now to the third one.”
