Having fruit flies around your kitchen does not automatically mean your cooking space is unkempt, as these tiny flies can make their way into your home whenever you get groceries. However, taking the necessary steps can prevent these insects from gaining access to the place you live.

Recently, a TikTok user, Tonya, with the handle @thatcleanbee, made a trending video on the best way to eliminate fruit flies. She named the method the “best fruit fly hack,” the professional cleaner claiming, “Since I started doing this (years ago) I’ve maybe had one time where I had fruit flies.”

Tonya revealed that quick action can help to eliminate the insects before they become a problem: “One way to help with fruit flies in your home is by washing your bananas as soon as you get them home from the store.”

She further explained that bananas serve as a breeding space for these annoying gnats. “Fruit flies lay eggs on the bananas, then you bring them into your house and they hatch and you have fruit flies,” the TikTok user hinted. “So make sure you wash them as soon as you get home.”
