Kelly Ripa Talks About How She Lost Consciousness During Intimate Time With Mark Consuelos

Recently, the co-host of the morning talk show Live! with Kelly and Ryan, Kelly Ripa revealed an awkward moment that happened with her husband, Mark Consuelos. The American daytime star talked about how she once lost consciousness while having sex with her husband and later woke up in a hospital.

Kelly Ripa opens up about her traumatic sex experience

Kelly Ripa opened up about the experience in her book, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories. This happened in 1997, one year after she got married and six months after she welcomed her first child with the All My Children co-star. She passed out while making love to Mark Consuelos and later woke up in an ER. However, the alarming incidence was due to a developing pair of cysts in her ovaries.

“My eyes shift between the fuzzy images on the screen, the remnants of my ovarian tormentor, and Mark happily snacking away. Sex can be so traumatic I think, and yet one of us is completely undaunted. There he is, happily munching on the saltines now and ordering a second apple juice,” she wrote. “Mark could be at a movie, or a spa. Instead, I’m flat on my back wondering when the other two cysts will burst.”

Also, in the chapter “Don’t Let Your Husband Pick Your Death Clothes,” Kelly Ripa regrets her husband’s choice of clothing selection when she fainted. She claims Mark Consuelos put a French-cut leotard on her and red Manolo Blahniks, which are often referred to as “f–k me shoes,” before taking her to the hospital.

“Also, here is my husband, who is, dare I say, stylish, well-dressed at all times, and yet he dressed me like a dime store prostitute in my time of need,” the excerpt continues. “It’s still baffling to me to this day that this is the best costume for the day that he could find for me, to the point where, when I was on the stretcher, I thought I was dreaming; I was having a nightmare. I didn’t realize I had come to.”

She praised Mark Consuelos

Despite criticizing her husband, the Hope & Faith co-star told Haute Living that Mark Consuelos was her support system and motivation while writing her book.

Kelly Ripa also revealed that their relationship is still solid even though they have contrasting personalities, but he loves her that way, “You have to have a yin and a yang, right? Mark is so quiet in the way he goes through his life, and yet he married a blowhorn if you will. I am this open book who will even turn the pages for you if you don’t keep up, and yet he allowed me to share these intimate moments because, frankly, I think he found them entertaining.”
