Whole Foods co-founder and CEO John Mackey has shared some controversial opinions over the years. Now, he’s at it again. He recently spoke out on the podcast run by the libertarian magazine Reason.
First, he said, “Socialists are taking over. They’re marching through the institutions. They’re taking everything over. They’re taking over education. It looks like they’ve taken over a lot of corporations. It looks like they’ve taken over the military, and it’s just continuing.” John has been a longtime advocate for capitalism and said a few years ago that it was “the greatest thing humanity’s ever done.”
Then he seemingly trashed young kids, especially the Gen Z generation. John added, “Younger people aren’t quick to work because they want meaningful work. You can’t expect to start with meaningful work. You’re going to have to earn it over time.”
He also spoke about how his father didn’t understand his generation and now he can relate. John admitted that when he was young he couldn’t wait to work and just wanted to earn money. Now, he says he just doesn’t understand the younger generation’s ideals.
Older workers tend to agree with him and Gen Z kids are now being called “lazy.” What’s your opinion?
