Bob Saget had turned 65 in May of 2021. his upbringing and original vision for his future did not account for a career in acting; he originally intended on becoming a doctor, but a teacher saw his potential and urged him to change course. Fortunately for him and 24 million viewers, Saget took her advice to heart and began his career with a bang. He was a part of The Morning Program for a short while before landing a role among the ensemble cast of ABC’s Full House, which established a spot at the top of the viewership ratings. Embracing his affinity for comedy, Saget also famously became the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos for almost a decade.

Saget remained consistently active in the entertainment industry through film, television roles, and hosting gigs, including a recent stint as a celebrity guest on Fox’s musical competition The Masked Singer. He also kept in touch with the goings-on of his Full House peers, going so far as to readily enter dad mode to defend his TV daughter Candace Cameron Bure when needed. In addition to the many people who grew up with Saget as a source of good humor in their lives, he also built a close family of his own and is survived by his wife Kelly Rizzo, who he married in 2018, and three children from his first marriage to Sherri Kramer: Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer.

In addition to acting and comedy work, Saget was also a noted advocate who championed the Scleroderma Research Foundation; his sister had been diagnosed with scleroderma at 43 and passed away at 47.
