Home goods retailer Bed Bath & Beyond has announced another wave of stores due to shut their doors in 2022. In total, the chain plans on closing 200 locations this year and has recently specified 37 of those locations.
The affected stores are spread across 19 states and have already begun liquidation sales in preparation for fully shutting down. They will be fully closed by the end of February. This is a part of the chain’s greater plan announced back in 2020 to close hundreds of stores within two years.
This week, Bed Bath & Beyond rolled out a list of 37 stores it will be closing in 2022. New York is set to close the most stores with seven locations listed, with California coming in second with five. Below is a list of the stores that will shut their doors forever by the end of February.

By time of writing, there is no comprehensive list of specific closing dates. In general, these stores are slated to close by the end of February. USA Today reported that the San Angelo, Texas location will close by January 23.
Bed Bath & Beyond CEO Mark Tritton admitted to disappointment at supply-chain issues in the third quarter. This combined with falling short of estimated profits, and issues with in-store inventory contributed to the decision to close more Bed Bath & Beyond stores in 2022. “The customer comes online, they want to buy a great item from us,” Tritton outlined. “They see it on our assortment. They want to buy that to pick up at their local store. The inventory is not in the right place to be made available. It’s actually locked in a warehouse. Or they want to buy it from us online, and it actually hasn’t been replenished because our vendors are also starved for that key inventory, so we actually had the physical data of customers coming to us in store and online and us not being able to meet them.”
