Woman Finds Expired Vintage 1980s Vicks VapoRub And The Internet Is Loving The Nostalgia

In a follow-up tweet, Heather updates the fans, saying, “Rest assured I did use this and it did indeed help. Vintage Vicks for the win.” Since Heather posted this, it has received over 330k likes and over 20k retweets. It also started a conversation with many other people who went looking into their medicine cabinets for vintage remedies. People were excited to find some vintage goodies of their own!

“When the pandemic hit, I decided to fully stock our bathroom medicine cabinet. We needed an upgrade from a singlebox of bandaids & tube of Neosporin in my night table drawer,” one Twitter user writes. “When I opened the medicine cabinet, this is what I found. I kept the mercurochrome, replaced the rest.”

Another Twitter user raised a vintage find, saying, “I see your Vicks Vaporub and will raise you an expired bottle of Caladryl calamine lotion that works like a charm. This went from my childhood home, to college with me, and now to adulthood married with kids.” Wow!

Another Twitter user took photos of his mother-in-law’s expired Merthiolate antiseptic that he used after a bike crash last fall. It expired back in 1986, according to the photos he attached!

The official brand speaks out on the findings

Even though Heather used the expired product and claims that it worked on her son, the official Twitter account for Vicks tweeted Heather, encouraging her to NOT use an expired product and to instead use a new one. “Heather, we’re sorry your son is sick, and hope he’s feeling better soon. The safety of your family is very important to us, and while we appreciate your mom’s confidence in VapoRub, we recommend that you don’t use an expired product.
