It can be very nostalgic to look back through your past and see how you’ve grown. You may look back on your career and see how your life has changed over the years. One way to get really nostalgic is to think back all the way to your first job ever. For many of us, it was something simple to do that gave us experience and a small paycheck.
In one of our DYR groups, a member posed the question, “What was your first job as a teenager?” Many were excited to reminisce and share more. A lot of the jobs were at a restaurant or retail store, but some were non-traditional. Here are some of the comments we received.
“Babysitting every day after school for the neighbor.”

“Contracting specialist, U.S. Air Force.”
“Ha, my first job in my teens came the day after I turned 18, I became a mom. Er, um maybe my second job. At 17 actually, I became a wife and 45 years later I’d say it’s not easy.”
“I worked at the Broadway at the perfume counter. All those perfumes together made me sick!”
“Working at Carson High. Answering the phone. Old switchboard.”
“Sweeping classrooms after school.”
“Burger King and yes I did wear that uniform. 😂😂😂😂😂”
“Clerk at Clark Drugs (now a CVS) in Westminster.”
“Candy striper at Harbor General was 1st job.”
