The First Socially Distant Concert Just Took Place In The U.S.

The very first socially distant music concert just took place in America and this is what it looks like. Travis McCready held a concert in Arkansas this past week and it gave us all a glimpse of what the “new normal” could be going forward. In the wake of the coronavirus era, health experts have said that we may not expect normal concert-going until Fall 2021. In the meantime, artists and bands have been doing everything they can to still host shows via live streams.

Heavy restrictions are all throughout the Arkansas venue. The original 1,000-person capacity is cut down to just 200 people for the show. All attendees are standing six feet apart by tape or special seating areas. Concert-goers also have their temperatures taken before entering the venue and everyone wears masks at all times.

The social distancing guidelines also extended to bathrooms, where only 10 people were allowed at one time. Concession stands were also only able to sell pre-packaged drinks or drinks that had lids. Despite all of these new restrictions and guidelines to follow, many people still showed up to the concert. “Reserving our right to rock n’ roll,” one person writes on their social media post from the concert.

With the first socially distant live show officially complete, we may see many more artists and bands doing the same. As more states continue to begin re-opening phases, socially distant concerts may become part of the new normal for now.
