  • Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is in the hospital.
  • She was treated for a benign gallbladder condition.
  • In addition, she plans to go back to work by phone today.

87-year-old Ruth Bader Ginsburg is resting comfortably after nonsurgical treatment. On Monday, she went for outpatient tests. Those tests found a gallstone that had been causing an infection. She underwent a nonsurgical treatment and is now doing just fine.

Ginsburg plans to participate in today’s oral arguments by phone from the hospital. She will likely stay in the hospital for a few days. This isn’t Ginsburg’s first health issue. In fact, she has survived four cancer diagnoses. In January of last year, she had surgery to remove cancerous nodules from her left lung.

Even while in the hospital, Ginsburg always seems to be involved with work. Even when she can’t participate in person or by phone, she reportedly reads transcripts. She said that she will work as long as she possibly can. According to CNN, she said, “I was OK this last term. I expect to be OK next term. And after that, we’ll just have to see.”

She reportedly has her own exercise spot at the Supreme Court and has still been working out when she can. The court’s spokeswoman, Kathy Arberg said, “At Justice Ginsburg’s request, the Court has set aside the limited private space next to its health facility for Justice Ginsburg to exercise.

She continues, “Her doctors share her view that the training sessions are essential to her well-being. The space is being used exclusively by the justice. No other justices are using the space, and the employee gym is closed to all users.”

Sending our get well wishes to Justice Ginsberg!
