Sadly, two more members of the famous Kennedy family have died. Robert F. Kennedy’s granddaughter, Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, and her eight-year-old son, Gideon drowned in a canoeing accident.

The mother and son were reported missing on Thursday in Annapolis, MD. Reports say that Maeve and Gideon were playing with other members of the Kennedy family when a ball got kicked into the water. They grabbed a canoe to go get it but never returned.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan confirmed the sad news in a press conference today. Maeve’s mother is Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. They said it was an extremely windy day yesterday when the accident occurred. The overturned canoe was found today and officials ruled the incident as a drowning accident.
