If you have a stainless steel sink in your home, it can be very hard to keep clean. Stainless steel sinks look stylish, but they don’t always stay shiny! Fortunately, you can clean your sink more easily and effectively using a few items you probably already have on hand in your kitchen and pantry.
First, you’ll need to grab a cleaning cloth, a soft sponge, a spray bottle, baking soda, a lemon, olive oil, and vinegar. The next step is easy. Just make sure the sink is entirely empty and rinse it with hot water.
How to clean your stainless steel sink
Once the sink is rinsed thoroughly, sprinkle the damp sink with baking soda until it is covered in a thin layer all over. Make sure you get baking soda on all of the sides as well. Using the sponge or cleaning cloth, scrub the sink with the baking soda. Be sure to scrub in the direction of the grain and add more water as needed.
When you’re done scrubbing with baking soda, scrub again with a lemon. Cut a lemon in half and use each half to scrub the sink thoroughly. This will clean even more effectively, kill bacteria and make your sink smell lemony fresh! Rinse again.
Then, fill a spray bottle with vinegar and spray the sink. Next, use a clean cloth to buff away any water spots. Vinegar, like lemons, is a natural disinfectant. Lastly, dry the sink with a clean, dry cloth. If you want your sink to shine, use the olive oil, working in the direction of the grain again. You should only use a little bit and wipe away any excess oil afterward. Your sink should look brand new again!
