Disney Is Working On ‘Hocus Pocus 2’ For Its New Streaming Service

Hocus Pocus sequel is officially in the works by Disney

26 years after the original Hocus Pocus premiered, Disney has announced they are finally working on a sequel. The popular film, which spikes in viewings around Halloween each year, will be getting a sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, on Disney’s new streaming service. The new streaming service is called Disney+.

Writers have officially been brought in to start working on the script. They hope to bring back some, if not all, of the original cast for the sequel. However, it has been reported that “None of them are attached at the moment and it remains unclear whether they’ll be the main characters, or whether we’ll see them pass the proverbial torch to a new generation of witches.”

It seems that at least one actress from the film is excited about the sequel. Vinessa Shaw, who played Allison in the movie, posted a photo on Instagram. She appeared in the photo along with unnamed friends. They were looking at a crystal ball. She captioned it, “Oh, will there be a #2?… ‘Tis time!”

Hocus Pocus has remained a cult classic since its release in 1993. It stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, witches who come back to life on Halloween. It has been part of the “31 Nights of Halloween” on Freeform for quite some time.


There is also a live show in Disney World based on the movie. It is part of Magic Kingdom‘s annual Mickey’s-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event. It looks like so much fun, especially for fans of the film! Check out the video above.
