Everyone remembers Wendi Lou Lee in the role of Baby Grace on the hit series Little House on the Prairie. She had scored her big Hollywood break before even entering Kindergarten! The actress, along with her twin sister Brenda, would share the role of Baby Grace from 1978 to 1982.
Wendi Lou Lee’s life was pretty normal up until 2015 when she would begin experiencing painful headaches and confusion. She would soon learn that she had a brain tumor, and she shares that she did turn to God to help her face it head-on. She says the experience only strengthened her relationship with God and her personal faith more.
Wendi Lou Lee and her faith in God
Lee is now a published author with a book called A Prairie Devotional. The book offers spiritual life lessons inspired by the series. The former child actress, who is also a proud Christian, hopes to be able to share words of wisdom to help others cope with their battles in life, too.
She recently spoke to Fox News about her initial diagnosis and how faith plays such a huge role then and in her life now.
Lee’s experience with a brain tumor
“It was about six weeks before my surgery when I started having terrible headaches, dizziness and forgetfulness,” Lee says about the discovery of her brain tumor. “Definitely a lot of mental confusion. It took about six weeks for my doctors to finally order a brain scan. Then we found out.”
Lee says that she felt so terrible leading up to the diagnosis that she was relieved just to know what it was. “I went into my surgery very excited and hopeful that God was going to take charge. But when I woke up from surgery, I was not your typical patient waking up. I was very exuberant and telling stories. I remember telling my family this was the best day of my life, which is rather strange that I would say that.”
Turning to God in times of hardship
Lee continues, “Faith played a huge role. Before my surgery, I was so hopeless. I kept praying to him and saying, “I need you, please be with me.” And then after surgery, I just felt such gratefulness… I just felt like my faith woke up and I had this sense of boldness to share my story in hopes it could help someone.”
What an inspiring message! Lee says nowadays she always turns to a specific Bible verse in times of hardship. Romans 15:13 which is, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
