Since the two starred alongside each other in the hit musical movie Grease in 1978, fans have been wanting the two back together for who knows how long! Now, Travolta opens up while on the red carpet for the premiere of a new movie he’s in The Fanatic.
He talks about his close friendship with Newton-John and hints they may reunite for a new project. Keep on reading to see what he says about the singer/actress!
Travolta hints that the two will reunite… but for what?
“We were together not that long ago, about three months ago, and we text each other all the time,” he says to Us Weekly while at the premiere.
“It’s wonderful … If I go to see her in her show, we go backstage and hang out, and I watch the show and all that. If I go to see her personally, we usually have dinner and catch up. And recently we’ve been talking about trying to do something together.”
What the two have been up to recently
The two have been very active in their own projects in recent months. Travolta has been part of three feature film premieres this year. On the flip side, Newton-John has been focusing primarily on her health as she has been battling her third cancer diagnosis.
“It was a challenging year because I broke my sacrum and I had to learn to walk again and everything,” Newton-John reveals about her stage-four cancer battle. Her cancer has metastasized to her bones. Nevertheless, she continues to battle on! “But I am strong, and I am back, and I’m feeling good and loving every minute.”
Travolta has been nothing but supportive during his friend’s cancer battle
During Travolta’s time on the red carpet for the premiere of The Fanatic, he also gives a tremendous amount of support and love to his former co-star during her cancer battle. “She’s doing great. And she looks fantastic! I’m so proud of her … she’s pulling it off like I’ve never seen anybody [do].”
In addition to Newton-John’s cancer diagnosis, she also is planning a major auction of her Grease costumes and other touring outfits through the years. A portion of the proceeds will go towards her hospital, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
All the best to these two! We can’t wait to see them reunite and what new project they embark on together.
