John Schneider is best known for his role as Beauregard “Bo” Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard. Recently, he has been in the news for some divorce drama. John married his second wife named Elvira in 1993. They filed for divorce in 2014 and just recently, in 2019, the divorce has been finalized.
However, John got in some legal trouble after he tried to keep the money for himself in the divorce. Reportedly, he sold one of their joint properties in Louisiana and kept all of the money for himself. In addition, he also drained one of their joint IRA accounts.
John Schneider spent some time in jail after failing to pay
He also spent three days in jail after failing to pay spousal support. Now, he is being ordered to pay Elvira a whopping $25,000 per month to make up for the past. He is also being ordered to pay for her legal fees in relation to the divorce, which will add up to around $279,000.
Elvira also got sole ownership of their property in California. The property is worth around $600,000 and she was also given one of their IRAs worth $60,000. She will also get a cut of John’s Screen Actors Guild pension.
John recently got remarried
Since the divorce has been pending for five years, John got remarried. Of course, it was not legal, but they still had a ceremony last month. He married Alicia Allain, who he has been with since 2015. They just had a small ceremony with friends, but now it seems they can make the union legal now that the divorce is behind him.
In addition to acting, John has been a country music singer since the early ’80s. He has released nine studio albums and a greatest hits package. He better keep working to pay off all of his legal bills!
