How Much Each Artist Earned From Playing Woodstock

Woodstock was a music festival that took place in August 1969. It drew an incredible crowd, way more than they anticipated! About a half a million people went to see their favorite artists at Woodstock. Half a million! Have you ever been curious about what these artists were paid for performing at one of the most popular music festivals of all time?

Some of the most famous acts at Woodstock were Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, and Joe Cocker. These days concerts and music festivals are getting more and more expensive. Apparently, if you bought out an entire venue for Justin Timberlake, it would cost you $1 million! Do you remember the good old days when concerts were super cheap and didn’t cost a small fortune?

Did anything on this list surprise you?

Santana, one of the greatest guitarists of all time, only took in $750? While we know that inflation has a bit to do with the crazy prices, all of these still seem so low! Woodstock really put many of these artists on the map, so I bet they aren’t too upset about the low paycheck now.

Did any of these paychecks for these artists surprise you? Did you guess the highest-paid performer correctly?
