Dolly Parton is doing her part in the quest to find a cure and a vaccine for coronavirus. In these uncertain times, it is great to see celebrities donating money to help others. Dolly is donating $1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee which will go right towards coronavirus research.
Dolly has a good friend there named Dr. Naji Abumrad. He reportedly told her about the progress being made towards a cure for coronavirus. Dolly shared an Instagram post explaining her donation and encouraged others who have the means to donate as well.
Dolly has known Dr. Abumrad since 2014. She was in a car accident and he treated her at the hospital. She also knows his son, Jad Abumrad. He works at Radiolab and interviewed Dolly for the nine-part podcast series called “Dolly Parton’s America.”

In addition to donating to help find a cure for coronavirus, Dolly is hoping to help kids feel better in an uncertain time. She started “Goodnight with Dolly,” a YouTube series where she reads children’s books from her bedroom.
Dolly also talked about her decision to donate on a recent TODAY Show appearance. She said, “Right now we need this. Anybody that can afford it ― we’ve got more money than we’ve got time right now, so we need to find this treatment. So I just felt like this was the time for me to open my heart and my hand.”
Thank you, Dolly, for your donation and your positive spirit during this time!
